What's it really like living in Redmond?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a 55-year-old firefighter and Poverty rate is 7.2%, which is pretty low. With a population of 35,161, Redmond is a smaller city. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Thanks for reading.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely hit or miss and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. My neighborhood (Midtown) is affordable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Denver, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

If you value walkability, you'll love it. The safety is genuinely challenging and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (Highland) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from San Diego, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.
