I'm single, late 40s, and The median home value here is around $1,091,700, which is pretty steep. Rent is about $2,343/month for a decent place. Median household income is $162,099, which feels pretty solid for the area. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Came here for family and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The cultural scene is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Greenfield for 13 years. Moved from Seattle for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2020 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is hit or miss - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Greenfield schools are better than expected. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Traffic during rush hour is rough. Dating scene is rough. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 9/10. Feel free to reach out with questions.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem pretty good.
I've been here 2 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is walkability. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Eastside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is weather. I genuinely enjoy living here. Worth doing your research before committing.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Chicago it's underrated.

As someone who grew up here, I'm still on the fence after all this time. A lot has changed in the past few years though. nightlife used to be much manageable but now it's tough.

That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into running, this place is hit or miss.
