Anyone else feel this way? Just moved here 14 months ago and You can expect to pay around $2,343 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -Redmond sits at 102.2 per 100K. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. It's a a smaller city city with about 75,721 people. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Am I wrong here? There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value safety, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely solid and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (South) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Boston, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Can feel isolated.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I've lived in Springfield for about 15 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The outdoor recreation scene is hit or miss
The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Can feel isolated
Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. Definitely worth checking out..
