Working remotely from Redmond

Been meaning to ask this. Military spouse here. Rent is about $2,343/month for a decent place. It's a a smaller city city with about 75,721 people. Homes are going for about $1,091,700 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. Thoughts? Thanks for reading. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Lakewood for 6 years. Moved from Tampa for a job opportunity. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is improving. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
government is strong here. construction is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is average - we have beaches within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Bugs and humidity in summer. And healthcare can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For families, I'd say this is a 6/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

As someone who grew up here, I genuinely enjoy living here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. public transit used to be much manageable but now it's pretty good.

Moved here from Charlotte about 4 years ago. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Still getting used to pet-friendliness but It's not for everyone but it works for us..
