Best areas to explore in Redondo Beach?

Not sure if this has been asked before, but I'm a 35-year-old police officer and Crime rate is something to consider -Redondo Beach sits at 237.1 per 100K. Homes are going for about $1,225,400 on average. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting.

I work in real estate here and it's not perfect but it works for me. The job market for my field is solid. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Miami and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Uptown. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally excellent. It took about 13 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: tough. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The school system is excellent compared to other places I've lived. Overall Hope this helps!.

I'm a nurse and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. The community is tough and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a teacher, 41, moved here 7 years ago from San Diego. I've lived in Old Town and Midtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally excellent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The safety situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Old Town: Great for young professionals. average vibes, walkable.
- Midtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from San Diego, everything felt excellent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are pricey. Gas is affordable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$140K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Good internet infrastructure
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally surprisingly good - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Nightlife is limited
2. Limited shopping options
3. The school system situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for retirees. excellent vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are affordable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $70K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are challenging, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is average in most areas.
