Unpopular opinion about Redondo Beach

Hey, I grew up here but left for a while. Average temperature is around 63--F, so the weather is moderate. Crime rate is something to consider -Redondo Beach sits at 237.1 per 100K. Homes are going for about $1,225,400 on average. Rent is about $2,562/month for a decent place. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. Worth the trade-offs? Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The cultural scene is genuinely better than expected and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (North) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Salt Lake City, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Hot take but it was the best decision I ever made. I know a lot of people disagree but after 3 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I work in marketing here and it was the best decision I ever made. The job market for my field is hit or miss. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
