Hello, I'm a teacher here and Rent is about $2,959/month for a decent place. Crime rate is something to consider -Redwood City sits at 216.2 per 100K. Poverty rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. Average temperature is around 57--F, so the weather is moderate. With a population of 82,423, Redwood City is a smaller city. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Let me know your thoughts. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

My experience has been mostly positive. I genuinely enjoy living here. The only thing I'd watch out for is pet-friendliness. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Portland about 11 years ago. The main reasons were cost of living and my partner's job.
Pros I've experienced:
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Lots of family-friendly activities
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are competitive, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. Hope this helps!.

Weather-wise, the summers are decent and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value cultural scene, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely excellent and I've found it exceeded my expectations. My neighborhood (South) is developing and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Dallas, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Summers can be brutally hot.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

The food scene here is challenging. Tons of great Asian places. I have mixed feelings honestly.

I've been living here for 12 years and I'd say it's improved dramatically in recent years. The job market is pretty good compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..
