Pros and cons of Redwood City after 10 years

I'm retired and Poverty rate is 3.5%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $1,838,800, which is pretty steep. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Is this normal for Redwood City? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 2 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is nightlife. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Pine Hills side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is healthcare. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Worth doing your research before committing.
