Anyone else love living in Redwood Falls?

My partner and I are You can expect to pay around $824 for rent here. Rent is about $824/month for a decent place. With a population of 5,075, Redwood Falls is a small town. The unemployment rate is 0.7%, which is pretty low. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Would love some local perspective. Cheers. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are competitive. You get used to it after the first year.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Minneapolis about 9 years ago. The main reasons were weather and quality of life.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Diverse dining options
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are wild, gas is underrated.

Socially, it exceeded my expectations. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The healthcare is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a lawyer, 50, moved here 5 years ago from Portland. I've lived in West and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Strong sense of community
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Not very walkable outside downtown
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The healthcare situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- West: Great for retirees. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is stable. You can live comfortably on $80K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
