Random thought, Household incomes average around $42,702 in Reidsville. Poverty rate is 21.4%, which is higher than I expected. Property taxes are high but you get good services. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. Has anyone dealt with this? It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it was the best decision I ever made. Compared to Boston it's tough.

I've lived in East for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Seattle, I was surprised by safety. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Strong job market in several industries
- Good internet infrastructure
- The healthcare scene is better than expected
The downsides:
- Winters are long and cold
- Urban sprawl is real
Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Old Town. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in finance. If you're in healthcare you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Thai.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

My experience has been mostly positive. it exceeded my expectations. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a nurse, 36, moved here 14 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Pine Hills and Greenfield, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Four distinct seasons
3. Good airport with direct flights
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Road conditions need improvement
2. Limited entertainment options
3. The safety situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Pine Hills: Great for singles. pretty good vibes, walkable.
- Greenfield: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are competitive. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $60K-$140K here.
**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 15 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the school system is legit. And if you're into skiing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The West side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are manageable. You get used to it after the first year.
