Best neighborhoods to rent in Reno?

Hey everyone, The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. The median home value here is around $498,600, which is pretty steep. Rent is about $1,453/month for a decent place. With a population of 269K, Reno is a mid-size city. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods.

Pros:
- Low taxes
- Strong sense of community
- Active local events

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Rising rent prices
- Not enough green space

Bought a house here in 2021 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've lived in Eastside for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it was the best decision I ever made. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Four distinct seasons
- The nightlife scene is improving

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for remote workers. Hope this helps!.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is nightlife. the quality of life is solid. Worth doing your research before committing.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The traffic is genuinely hit or miss and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. My neighborhood (Midtown) is established and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Seattle, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are solid and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.
