Dog-friendly places in Reno?

Hey, You can expect to pay around $1,453 for rent here. The unemployment rate is 3.4%, which is pretty low. Poverty rate is 7.4%, which is pretty low. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. What would you do? Property taxes are high but you get good services. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The suburbs are where most families end up. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 10 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is cost of living. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the outdoor recreation is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Riverside side vs the Maple Ridge side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are stable. You get used to it after the first year.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Pittsburgh and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in East. It's underrated for what you get.

Jobs: The market is affordable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally hit or miss. It took about 9 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Definitely worth checking out..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Oak Park for 8 years. Moved from Denver for cost of living. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Oak Park schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited shopping options. Homeless population growing downtown. And outdoor recreation can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For young professionals, I'd say this is a 7/10. Hope this helps!. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
