Most overrated things about Reno

Hey folks, I'm single, late 20s, and The median home value here is around $498,600, which is pretty steep. Average temperature is around 52°F, so expect cold winters. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Anyone in a similar situation? Looking forward to hearing from you all. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 10 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's stable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the traffic is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is better than expected.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Weather-wise, the summers are improving and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.
