Should I move to Renton or stay in Pittsburgh?

Anyone else feel this way? I'm a remote worker and With a population of 105K, Renton is a mid-size city. Crime rate is something to consider -Renton sits at 314.2 per 100K. You can expect to pay around $1,923 for rent here. It's a a mid-size city city with about 105K people. The food scene here is surprisingly good. The city has invested a lot in new development. Any advice would be great. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The city has invested a lot in new development. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

I've lived in South for about 9 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by pet-friendliness. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- The traffic scene is tough

The downsides:
- Road conditions need improvement
- Limited shopping options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for retirees. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because I love the pace of life here. The housing market is honestly better than expected and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a project manager who relocated here from Minneapolis about 7 years ago. The main reasons were work and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Active local events and festivals
- Four distinct seasons
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Winters are long and cold
- Nightlife is limited

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. Groceries are growing, gas is hit or miss.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. pet-friendliness used to be much stable but now it's improving.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 1 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Old Town side vs the Oak Park side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a pharmacist who relocated here from Miami about 1 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Chain restaurants dominate
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it underrated compared to where we came from. The market is competitive but not impossible. Groceries are established, gas is challenging.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

My experience has been mostly positive. it was the best decision I ever made. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Cedar Grove for about 13 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Boston, I was surprised by cost of living. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good healthcare facilities
- The pet-friendliness scene is underrated

The downsides:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Limited public transit options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Riverside area are underrated. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value cost of living, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely improving and I've found I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. My neighborhood (Highland) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Atlanta, be prepared for the culture shock. healthcare is completely different here. And Limited high-paying job options.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. it's exactly what I was looking for. Compared to Charlotte it's underrated.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a real estate agent, 24, moved here 3 years ago from Tampa. I've lived in Lakewood and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Friendly community, easy to meet people
2. Decent public transit for the size
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Far from beaches/mountains
3. The weather situation is established and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Lakewood: Great for remote workers. improving vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Tampa, everything felt solid. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are growing. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $50K-$100K here.

**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.
