Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Hope this helps!.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem solid.
I've been here 7 years and it was the best decision I ever made. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's manageable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the pet-friendliness is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is solid.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The South side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 13 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is community vibe. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into fishing, this place is pretty good.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Springfield side vs the The Heights side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Hope this helps!.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 12 years ago from San Diego and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Springfield. It's improving for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in real estate. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally improving. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: hit or miss. Tons of options if you like Southern.
No regrets on my end..

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Lakewood for 12 years. Moved from Charlotte for work. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is tough. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth down slightly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.
**Employment:**
engineering is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are pricey for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I love the pace of life here. The outdoor scene is decent - we have rivers within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Lakewood schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Property taxes are high. Dating scene is rough. And nightlife can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 9/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Denver it's excellent.

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because I have mixed feelings honestly. The cultural scene is honestly underrated and I don't see that changing anytime soon.
