OK so I'm a teacher here and Homes are going for about $566,200 on average. Average temperature is around 51--F, so expect cold winters. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Any advice would be great. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, it was the best decision I ever made. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 14 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Lakewood. It's better than expected for what you get.
Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in marketing. If you're in legal you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: excellent. Tons of options if you like BBQ.
Definitely worth checking out..

We moved here with our family and it's been a really good experience overall. Schools in Oak Park area are improving. Kids love it here.
