Rexburg housing prices -when will it stop?

Hey everyone, We're a young couple and It's a a smaller city city with about 39,589 people. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Am I wrong here? It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it exceeded my expectations.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are established. You get used to it after the first year.

As someone who grew up here, the quality of life is solid. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much growing but now it's hit or miss.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.

I've been here 12 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is cultural scene. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the walkability is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The The Heights side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say I'm still on the fence after all this time. The weather is hit or miss compared to other places I've lived. Overall Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Came here for a fresh start and stayed because it was the best decision I ever made. The outdoor recreation is honestly challenging and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want safety, then yeah this place is great. But if housing market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. I have mixed feelings honestly. Compared to Tampa it's challenging.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 35, moved here 7 years ago from Boston. I've lived in Westside and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Strong job market in several industries
2. Close to major attractions
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Summers can be brutally hot
2. Winters are long and cold
3. The cost of living situation is pricey and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for families. decent vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Boston, everything felt challenging. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are established. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $60K-$130K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Bought a house here in 2016 and it was the best decision I ever made. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

I've lived in West for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by traffic. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights
- The school system scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Limited high-paying job options

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for singles. Feel free to reach out with questions..
