Alright, Born and raised here. You can expect to pay around $983 for rent here. Median household income is $90,969, which feels pretty solid for the area. Crime rate is something to consider -Rhome sits at 708.1 per 100K. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The city has invested a lot in new development.

Public transit is average here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's been a really good experience overall.

Hot take but it's improved dramatically in recent years. I know a lot of people disagree but after 12 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Fairview for 3 years. Moved from Denver for quality of life. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is challenging. We bought in 2015 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.
**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
it exceeded my expectations. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have biking trails within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Fairview schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Rising rent and home prices. Can feel isolated. And food scene can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**
For retirees, I'd say this is a 7/10. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.
I've been here 4 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into hiking, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Cedar Grove side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 8 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's affordable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the cost of living is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
No regrets on my end..

Weather-wise, the summers are challenging and winters are wild. You get used to it after the first year.
