**Housing:**
The market right now is solid. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth about the same than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.
**Employment:**
real estate is strong here. engineering is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are manageable for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is improving - we have state parks within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from Tampa and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in Meadowbrook. It's challenging for what you get.
Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in construction. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 16 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Southern.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 12 years and I love the pace of life here. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the nightlife is legit. And if you're into camping, this place is better than expected.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The East side vs the Riverside side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
