Anyone else feel this way? I'm originally from Minneapolis and Crime rate is something to consider -Richardson sits at 143.7 per 100K. It's a a mid-size city city with about 118K people. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Does this match your experience? Appreciate any input. The city has invested a lot in new development. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value nightlife, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely decent and I've found I genuinely enjoy living here. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Miami, be prepared for the culture shock. community vibe is completely different here. And Not very walkable outside downtown.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a data analyst who relocated here from Salt Lake City about 5 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Decent public transit for the size
- Affordable housing options
Cons that are real:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Limited entertainment options
Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are established, gas is decent.
Socially, it's improved dramatically in recent years. Hope this helps!.

I'm a real estate agent who relocated here from Nashville about 3 years ago. The main reasons were school and work.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Lots of new development happening
- Strong sense of community
Cons that are real:
- Homeless population growing downtown
- Bugs and humidity in summer
Financially, we've found it excellent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are growing, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Hope this helps!.

We moved here with our family and it's exactly what I was looking for. Schools in Cedar Grove area are improving. Kids love it here.

Bought a house here in 2023 and I have mixed feelings honestly. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's been a really good experience overall. The only thing I'd watch out for is outdoor recreation. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
