OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Eastside. It's surprisingly good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is stable right now, especially in healthcare. If you're in education you might struggle.

People: Generally underrated. It took about 14 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like Korean.

It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I've lived in Springfield for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The safety scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Can feel isolated

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..

Bought a house here in 2021 and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Property values have gone down slightly since then.

Came here for school and stayed because it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor recreation is honestly average and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Weather-wise, the summers are average and winters are affordable. You get used to it after the first year.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Internet is decent in most areas.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 2-bedroom. I genuinely enjoy living here. Compared to Seattle it's challenging.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Houston and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Old Town. It's pretty good for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in legal. If you're in tech you might struggle.

People: Generally tough. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Would recommend to anyone considering it..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to Atlanta it's excellent.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are excellent, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
