Rent vs buy in Richfield -what makes sense?

So, I grew up here but left for a while. With a population of 36,725, Richfield is a smaller city. Household incomes average around $84,055 in Richfield. It's a a smaller city city with about 36,725 people. The weather takes some getting used to. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Would love some local perspective. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The suburbs are where most families end up.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are average, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

We moved here with our family and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Schools in Greenfield area are challenging. Kids love it here.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Riverside for 3 years. Moved from Austin for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2017 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. legal is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are reasonable for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is improving - we have ski resorts within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Riverside schools are solid. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Limited high-paying job options. Limited entertainment options. And community vibe can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For singles, I'd say this is a 8/10. Good luck with whatever you decide.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

My experience has been mostly positive. I'm still on the fence after all this time. The only thing I'd watch out for is job market. Other than that, No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in East. It's excellent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in education. If you're in construction you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 11 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Vietnamese.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
