Richfield is underrated, change my mind

So, I'm single, late 40s, and The median home value here is around $320,400, which seems about average. Household incomes average around $84,055 in Richfield. The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Pros:
- Friendly people
- Diverse community
- Lots of new development
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Cold winters
- Not very walkable
- Boring for young people
- Mosquitoes and humidity
- Homelessness issues downtown
People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in The Heights for 13 years. Moved from Atlanta for retirement. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is better than expected. We bought in 2019 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Older homes are where the value is.

**Employment:**
healthcare is strong here. manufacturing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are established for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
I'm still on the fence after all this time. The outdoor scene is surprisingly good - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. The Heights schools are average. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Summers can be brutally hot. Dating scene is rough. And public transit can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 6/10. It's not for everyone but it works for us.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from San Francisco about 4 years ago. The main reasons were weather and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Good schools in most areas
- Four distinct seasons

Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are competitive, gas is improving.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Feel free to reach out with questions..
