Top 5 things I love about Richland

My family moved here when I was a kid. It's a a small town city with about 7,250 people. With a population of 7,250, Richland is a small town. The median home value here is around $131,300, which is actually reasonable. Household incomes average around $63,611 in Richland. Crime rate is something to consider -Richland sits at 23.2 per 100K. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. The weather takes some getting used to. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Lots of new development
- Good internet infrastructure

Cons:
- Hot summers
- Sprawl everywhere
- Not very walkable
- Poor road conditions
- Far from major airports
Worth the trade-offs? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. The suburbs are where most families end up. Property taxes are high but you get good services. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 13 years ago from Chicago and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Old Town. It's decent for what you get.

Jobs: The market is pricey right now, especially in marketing. If you're in hospitality you might struggle.

People: Generally challenging. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: surprisingly good. Tons of options if you like Indian.

Hope this helps!.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it's been a really good experience overall. Internet is average in most areas.

Bought a house here in 2018 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 7 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is pet-friendliness. It's competitive and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the safety is legit. And if you're into running, this place is decent.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Lakewood side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Good luck with whatever you decide..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a data analyst, 29, moved here 15 years ago from Phoenix. I've lived in Cedar Grove and Eastside, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good healthcare facilities
2. Active local events and festivals
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally hit or miss - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Traffic during rush hour is rough
2. Dating scene is rough
3. The nightlife situation is developing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Cedar Grove: Great for families. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Eastside: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Phoenix, everything felt decent. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $40K-$80K here.

**Final verdict:**
No regrets on my end.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
