Housing market in Richmond — is it worth buying?

Median home value here is around $650,100. Prices are steep but there are pockets of affordability. For those renting, typical rent is $1895.

Is now a good time to buy in Richmond? Or better to keep renting?

Looking for opinions from both homeowners and renters.

I'd add that the parks here are amazing for families. Otherwise spot on!

I've lived in Cedar Hills for 7 years and it's decent, has its pros and cons.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

Respectfully disagree about the safety concerns. In my experience, there are good opportunities if you network.

Coming from Dallas, the cost of living difference is noticeable. Groceries and gas are about the same.

If you can afford it, Old Town is the best place to live. Period.

Don't sleep on Old Town. It's up and coming and still affordable.

For families, I'd recommend looking at Downtown. Schools are rated well and it's quiet.

Check out the Northside area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.
