Is Richmond getting better or worse?

Rent is about $1,895/month for a decent place. It's a a mid-size city city with about 115K people. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Appreciate any input. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 7 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Maple Ridge. It's solid for what you get.

Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in engineering you might struggle.

People: Generally pretty good. It took about 7 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Bought a house here in 2022 and it's exactly what I was looking for. Property values have gone up a bit since then.
