Rent vs buy in Richmond Heights -what makes sense?

Household incomes average around $56,734 in Richmond Heights. It's a a small town city with about 10,677 people. Crime rate is something to consider -Richmond Heights sits at 309.3 per 100K. Homes are going for about $176,100 on average. Average temperature is around 52--F, so expect cold winters. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Friendly people
- Growing food scene
- Walkable downtown
- Good airport connections

Cons:
- Limited public transit
- Limited nightlife
- Limited cultural events
Does this match your experience? People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. The city has invested a lot in new development. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable.

I've lived in Highland for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Tampa, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- The pet-friendliness scene is hit or miss

The downsides:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 5/10 for couples. Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value traffic, you'll love it. The housing market is genuinely improving and I've found I'm still on the fence after all this time. My neighborhood (North) is growing and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Raleigh, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Seattle about 14 years ago. The main reasons were weather and school.

Pros I've experienced:
- Decent public transit for the size
- Close to major attractions
- Lots of family-friendly activities

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are affordable, gas is pretty good.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Hope this helps!.
