Random thought, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and Median household income is $89,910, which feels pretty solid for the area. The unemployment rate is 3.6%, which is pretty low. Crime rate is something to consider -Richmond Hill sits at 290.7 per 100K. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's not perfect, but the community is solid.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.
I've been here 2 years and it's not perfect but it works for me. The thing nobody mentions is weather. It's pricey and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is improving.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Public transit is pretty good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it's not perfect but it works for me.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is housing market. it's improved dramatically in recent years. Worth doing your research before committing.

As someone who grew up here, I love the pace of life here. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much established but now it's hit or miss.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value walkability, you'll love it. The healthcare is genuinely underrated and I've found the quality of life is solid. My neighborhood (Fairview) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from Pittsburgh, be prepared for the culture shock. weather is completely different here. And Nightlife is limited.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 2 years ago from Minneapolis and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Old Town. It's decent for what you get.
Jobs: The market is manageable right now, especially in government. If you're in government you might struggle.
People: Generally surprisingly good. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: better than expected. Tons of options if you like sushi.
