Worst things about Richmond Hill nobody talks about

Random thought, Military spouse here. Average temperature is around 68--F, so the weather is moderate. Household incomes average around $89,910 in Richmond Hill. Crime rate is something to consider -Richmond Hill sits at 290.7 per 100K. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. The city has invested a lot in new development. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

Pros:
- Good job market
- Lots of new development
- Good healthcare facilities
- Plenty of shopping options

Cons:
- Traffic can be terrible
- Sprawl everywhere
- Not very walkable
- Limited dining options
- High property taxes
Should I be concerned? TIA! I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. The suburbs are where most families end up. I've been living here for 3 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The nightlife is underrated compared to other places I've lived. Overall Would recommend to anyone considering it..

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are improving, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a social worker who relocated here from Tampa about 4 years ago. The main reasons were quality of life and a job opportunity.

Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Affordable housing options
- Good airport with direct flights

Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Summers can be brutally hot

Financially, we've found it decent compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are growing, gas is challenging.

Socially, I have mixed feelings honestly. Good luck with whatever you decide..
