Best areas to explore in Richmond?

First post here. I relocated for work and The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. Crime rate is something to consider — Richmond sits at 462.9 per 100K. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. Thanks!

Hot take but it exceeded my expectations. I know a lot of people disagree but after 9 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I've lived in West for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I'm still on the fence after all this time. When I first moved here from Phoenix, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Active local events and festivals
- Good airport with direct flights
- The public transit scene is better than expected

The downsides:
- Limited high-paying job options
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Happy to answer more specific questions..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 1 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's average for what you get.

Jobs: The market is reasonable right now, especially in consulting. If you're in retail you might struggle.

People: Generally average. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like BBQ.

Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
