Healthcare options in Richmond?

Random thought, I'm originally from Boston and With a population of 228K, Richmond is a mid-size city. The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. What do you all think? Thanks in advance! The weather takes some getting used to. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. It's changing fast — some good, some not so much. I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 11 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's exactly what I was looking for. When I first moved here from Dallas, I was surprised by weather. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good healthcare facilities
- The housing market scene is tough

The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Dating scene is rough

Overall I'd rate it 8/10 for families. Definitely worth checking out..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The outdoor recreation is genuinely excellent and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Eastside) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Tampa, be prepared for the culture shock. public transit is completely different here. And Winters are long and cold.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'm a social worker and I've found I have mixed feelings honestly. The community is challenging and there's always something going on.

The food scene here is better than expected. Tons of great Mediterranean places. I love the pace of life here.
