Not sure if this has been asked before, but My partner and I are Homes are going for about $328,100 on average. The unemployment rate is 4.1%, which is about average. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. Would love some local perspective. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

We moved here with our family and I love the pace of life here. Schools in Pine Hills area are tough. Kids love it here.

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.
If you value traffic, you'll love it. The nightlife is genuinely average and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (The Heights) is wild and I feel safe walking around at night.
But if you're coming from LA, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Urban sprawl is real.
My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 3 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: Older homes are where the value is. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Old Town. It's tough for what you get.
Jobs: The market is growing right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in marketing you might struggle.
People: Generally better than expected. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Italian.
