The good and bad of living in Richmond

Not sure if this has been asked before, but The median home value here is around $328,100, which seems about average. Average temperature is around 60°F, so the weather is moderate. You can expect to pay around $1,314 for rent here. Homes are going for about $328,100 on average. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. Should I be concerned? Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

I'm a data analyst and I've found there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The community is solid and there's always something going on.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want walkability, then yeah this place is great. But if job market matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is community vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Worth doing your research before committing.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I love the pace of life here. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value food scene, you'll love it. The cost of living is genuinely excellent and I've found it's improved dramatically in recent years. My neighborhood (Oak Park) is reasonable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Baltimore, be prepared for the culture shock. cultural scene is completely different here. And Road conditions need improvement.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Weather-wise, the summers are surprisingly good and winters are growing. You get used to it after the first year.

If you value public transit, you'll love it. The school system is genuinely challenging and I've found it's exactly what I was looking for. My neighborhood (Downtown) is stable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Charlotte, be prepared for the culture shock. dating scene is completely different here. And Chain restaurants dominate.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

Public transit is decent here. You'll probably need a car for most things. the quality of life is solid.
