Just moved to Richmond West, any tips?

Hi all, I'm retired and You can expect to pay around $2,374 for rent here. It's a a smaller city city with about 35,988 people. The food scene here is surprisingly good. It's a very car-dependent city, for better or worse. Would love some local perspective. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years.

I've been living here for 13 years and I'd say it was the best decision I ever made. The nightlife is better than expected compared to other places I've lived. Overall Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 3-bedroom. the quality of life is solid. Compared to LA it's tough.

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 12 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it exceeded my expectations. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Lots of new development happening
- The school system scene is challenging

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for retirees. Good luck with whatever you decide..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem hit or miss.

I've been here 13 years and it exceeded my expectations. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is underrated.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Westside side vs the Meadowbrook side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

I've been living here for 5 years and I'd say I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor recreation is challenging compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..
