Longtime lurker here, Homes are going for about $200,400 on average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

I've lived in Greenfield for about 10 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
I love the pace of life here. When I first moved here from Baltimore, I was surprised by job market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Lots of new development happening
- The healthcare scene is solid
The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Homeless population growing downtown
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for retirees. Hope this helps!.

I've been living here for 11 years and I'd say it's been a really good experience overall. The housing market is decent compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Phoenix and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Eastside. It's solid for what you get.
Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in consulting. If you're in finance you might struggle.
People: Generally tough. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: underrated. Tons of options if you like Indian.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I work in marketing here and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The job market for my field is decent. Hope this helps!.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a physical therapist who relocated here from Austin about 3 years ago. The main reasons were work and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Property taxes are high
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are manageable, gas is excellent.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Came here for quality of life and stayed because it's exactly what I was looking for. The weather is honestly decent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem excellent.
I've been here 2 years and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the community vibe is legit. And if you're into kayaking, this place is tough.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Sunset side vs the South side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
It's not for everyone but it works for us..

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.
Background: I'm a teacher, 51, moved here 6 years ago from Denver. I've lived in The Heights and Sunset, and traveled to most parts of the metro.
**What I love:**
1. Cost of living is very reasonable
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Affordable housing options
4. The people are generally better than expected - I found my community within the first year
**What I don't love:**
1. Property taxes are high
2. Can feel isolated
3. The food scene situation is wild and doesn't seem to be improving
**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- The Heights: Great for singles. decent vibes, walkable.
- Sunset: More affordable, family-friendly.
**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.
**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Denver, everything felt surprisingly good. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are stable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $90K-$110K here.
**Final verdict:**
Hope this helps!. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.
