Housing in Richton Park compared to Charlotte

So, I'm a teacher here and Rent is about $1,313/month for a decent place. The weather takes some getting used to. Would love some local perspective. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem average.

I've been here 2 years and I genuinely enjoy living here. The thing nobody mentions is outdoor recreation. It's wild and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into surfing, this place is tough.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Cedar Grove side vs the Greenfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Definitely worth checking out..

Weather-wise, the summers are better than expected and winters are pricey. You get used to it after the first year.

I've been here 4 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is dating scene. It's growing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the food scene is legit. And if you're into running, this place is solid.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Highland side vs the North side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Real talk - this place is not for everyone, and I think that's OK.

If you value pet-friendliness, you'll love it. The walkability is genuinely average and I've found it's not perfect but it works for me. My neighborhood (Pine Hills) is manageable and I feel safe walking around at night.

But if you're coming from Phoenix, be prepared for the culture shock. traffic is completely different here. And Rising rent and home prices.

My advice would be to visit for at least a week before committing. Rent first, don't buy. And explore multiple neighborhoods - they're all different.

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is walkability. it's exactly what I was looking for. Worth doing your research before committing.

Public transit is surprisingly good here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.
