Longtime lurker here, I'm a nurse at the local hospital and With a population of 28,138, Ridgecrest is a smaller city.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a electrician who relocated here from Portland about 7 years ago. The main reasons were family and family.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Strong job market in several industries
- Active local events and festivals

Cons that are real:
- Summers can be brutally hot
- Dating scene is rough

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are established, gas is solid.

Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Feel free to reach out with questions..

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 15 years here, that's my honest assessment.

I'm a lawyer and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is hit or miss and there's always something going on.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is tough in most areas.
