Working remotely from Ridgecrest

Alright, I'm retired and You can expect to pay around $1,178 for rent here. The median home value here is around $235,800, which is actually reasonable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What are your go-to spots? Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. The suburbs are where most families end up. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus.

Bought a house here in 2022 and I love the pace of life here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a software engineer who relocated here from Pittsburgh about 5 years ago. The main reasons were work and weather.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Nightlife is limited
- Far from beaches/mountains

Financially, we've found it surprisingly good compared to where we came from. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. Groceries are pricey, gas is decent.

Socially, I genuinely enjoy living here. No regrets on my end..
