I'm a sales manager and I've found it was the best decision I ever made. The community is improving and there's always something going on.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 34, moved here 10 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Greenfield and Downtown, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Low crime in most neighborhoods
2. Good healthcare facilities
3. Close to major attractions
4. The people are generally decent - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Limited public transit options
2. Nightlife is limited
3. The cost of living situation is stable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Greenfield: Great for families. better than expected vibes, walkable.
- Downtown: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are wild. Gas is pricey. You can live comfortably on $40K-$150K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I have mixed feelings honestly. Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 11 years ago from Baltimore and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 3-bed in Oak Park. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in construction. If you're in finance you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 10 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: average. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Hope this helps!.

From a safety perspective, it really depends on the area. Some neighborhoods are tough, others not so much. Do your research on specific streets.
