We have two kids and Poverty rate is 4.0%, which is pretty low. Household incomes average around $127,117 in Ridgemark. The median home value here is around $820,900, which is pretty steep. Median household income is $127,117, which feels pretty solid for the area. The suburbs are where most families end up. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. What neighborhoods would you suggest? The city has invested a lot in new development. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look.

My experience has been mostly positive. it's exactly what I was looking for. The only thing I'd watch out for is walkability. Other than that, Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

I've been living here for 8 years and I'd say it's not perfect but it works for me. The outdoor recreation is tough compared to other places I've lived. Overall No regrets on my end..

As someone who grew up here, it's not perfect but it works for me. A lot has changed in the past few years though. weather used to be much developing but now it's tough.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a chef who relocated here from Dallas about 13 years ago. The main reasons were school and quality of life.
Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Good internet infrastructure
Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
Financially, we've found it improving compared to where we came from. Buying is tough right now, renting is more reasonable. Groceries are wild, gas is challenging.
Socially, it's exactly what I was looking for. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

I'd say the biggest thing people don't talk about is public transit. it exceeded my expectations. Worth doing your research before committing.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, I genuinely enjoy living here. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem tough.
I've been here 7 years and it's exactly what I was looking for. The thing nobody mentions is safety. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the job market is legit. And if you're into photography, this place is decent.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Oak Park side vs the Pine Hills side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..

Weather-wise, the summers are excellent and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. I genuinely enjoy living here. Internet is improving in most areas.
