Best and worst neighborhoods in Ridgewood

The median home value here is around $882,700, which is pretty steep. You can expect to pay around $2,340 for rent here. Average temperature is around 53--F, so expect cold winters. It's a a smaller city city with about 26,076 people. The city has invested a lot in new development. Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. Property taxes are high but you get good services.

Pros:
- Affordable cost of living
- Low crime in most areas
- Easy commute
- Good internet infrastructure
- Active local events

Cons:
- Sprawl everywhere
- Homelessness issues downtown
- Not enough green space
Any advice would be great. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. I'd say it's better for families than young singles. Public transit needs a lot of work honestly. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. The weather takes some getting used to. The school system varies a lot by neighborhood. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Honestly, I think it's a great place if you know where to look. The weather takes some getting used to. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want school system, then yeah this place is great. But if pet-friendliness matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a contractor, 46, moved here 5 years ago from Baltimore. I've lived in Eastside and Highland, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Decent public transit for the size
2. Good airport with direct flights
3. Lots of family-friendly activities
4. The people are generally tough - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Rising rent and home prices
2. Not very walkable outside downtown
3. The nightlife situation is manageable and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Eastside: Great for families. solid vibes, walkable.
- Highland: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Baltimore, everything felt better than expected. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are manageable. Gas is competitive. You can live comfortably on $100K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Give it a chance - it might surprise you.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 1-bedroom. it's not perfect but it works for me. Compared to Austin it's underrated.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a data analyst who relocated here from LA about 4 years ago. The main reasons were work and work.

Pros I've experienced:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Nice parks and green spaces
- Good healthcare facilities

Cons that are real:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited entertainment options

Financially, we've found it hit or miss compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are developing, gas is improving.

Socially, it was the best decision I ever made. No regrets on my end..

Came here for a job opportunity and stayed because it's been a really good experience overall. The cost of living is honestly excellent and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Renting here right now, paying about /mo for a 4-bedroom. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Compared to New York it's decent.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. it was the best decision I ever made.
