Best apartments in Ridgewood under ?

Hey everyone, Homes are going for about $882,700 on average. Cost of living is definitely rising, but still manageable. Am I wrong here? The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. I'd say it's better for families than young singles.

Weather-wise, the summers are pretty good and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

As someone who grew up here, it's exactly what I was looking for. A lot has changed in the past few years though. school system used to be much stable but now it's better than expected.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cultural scene, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

OK I'm going to write a proper review because I've seen too many incomplete answers.

Background: I'm a physical therapist, 55, moved here 8 years ago from Portland. I've lived in Westside and Lakewood, and traveled to most parts of the metro.

**What I love:**
1. Good schools in most areas
2. Nice parks and green spaces
3. Decent public transit for the size
4. The people are generally challenging - I found my community within the first year

**What I don't love:**
1. Urban sprawl is real
2. Road conditions need improvement
3. The housing market situation is growing and doesn't seem to be improving

**Neighborhoods I'd recommend:**
- Westside: Great for remote workers. underrated vibes, walkable.
- Lakewood: More affordable, family-friendly.

**Neighborhoods I'd avoid:**
- Without naming names, stay away from areas east of downtown until you know the city better.

**Cost comparison:**
Coming from Portland, everything felt tough. Rent is about /mo. Groceries are reasonable. Gas is growing. You can live comfortably on $80K-$110K here.

**Final verdict:**
Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for.. It's not perfect - nowhere is - but for the price point and quality of life, it's hard to beat. DM me if you have specific questions.

I've lived in South for about 8 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's been a really good experience overall. When I first moved here from Miami, I was surprised by housing market. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good schools in most areas
- Decent public transit for the size
- The housing market scene is average

The downsides:
- Urban sprawl is real
- Not a lot of cultural diversity

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for young professionals. No regrets on my end..
