Thinking about relocating to Ridgewood from Boston
Been meaning to ask this. Poverty rate is 2.5%, which is pretty low. Median household income is $217,250, which feels pretty solid for the area. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What neighborhoods would you suggest? Any help is appreciated. Night life is decent if you know the right spots.

I've lived in Uptown for about 2 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.
it's improved dramatically in recent years. When I first moved here from Minneapolis, I was surprised by nightlife. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.
A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The healthcare scene is pretty good
The downsides:
- Can feel isolated
- Limited entertainment options
Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for young professionals. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Used to live on the Uptown side, now on the Lakewood side. Completely different vibe. I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The walkability is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.
I'm a lawyer who relocated here from Atlanta about 2 years ago. The main reasons were my partner's job and cost of living.
Pros I've experienced:
- Good internet infrastructure
- Four distinct seasons
- Good airport with direct flights
Cons that are real:
- Limited public transit options
- Far from beaches/mountains
Financially, we've found it average compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are pricey, gas is hit or miss.
Socially, I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Hot take but it's exactly what I was looking for. I know a lot of people disagree but after 13 years here, that's my honest assessment.
