Rent vs buy in Rincon -what makes sense?

Curious what people think. With a population of 11,152, Rincon is a small town.

Bought a house here in 2017 and I genuinely enjoy living here. Property values have gone up a bit since then.

I've lived in Midtown for about 3 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. When I first moved here from Houston, I was surprised by healthcare. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Growing food and restaurant scene
- Affordable housing options
- The job market scene is average

The downsides:
- Nightlife is limited
- Homeless population growing downtown

Overall I'd rate it 7/10 for couples. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Hot take but I'm still on the fence after all this time. I know a lot of people disagree but after 7 years here, that's my honest assessment.

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a contractor who relocated here from Phoenix about 14 years ago. The main reasons were a job opportunity and cost of living.

Pros I've experienced:
- Cost of living is very reasonable
- Great outdoor activities nearby
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Not very walkable outside downtown
- Road conditions need improvement

Financially, we've found it better than expected compared to where we came from. Lots of new construction which should help. Groceries are pricey, gas is decent.

Socially, it's not perfect but it works for me. Give it a chance - it might surprise you..

Great question. I'll try to be comprehensive here.

I'm a nurse who relocated here from Miami about 4 years ago. The main reasons were family and my partner's job.

Pros I've experienced:
- Low crime in most neighborhoods
- Decent public transit for the size
- Strong sense of community

Cons that are real:
- Traffic during rush hour is rough
- Bugs and humidity in summer

Financially, we've found it solid compared to where we came from. Older homes are where the value is. Groceries are developing, gas is improving.

Socially, it's been a really good experience overall. No regrets on my end..
