The food scene here is improving. Tons of great Thai places. it's exactly what I was looking for.

Came here for my partner's job and stayed because it's improved dramatically in recent years. The school system is honestly surprisingly good and I don't see that changing anytime soon.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Dallas and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: Lots of new construction which should help. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in South. It's tough for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in manufacturing. If you're in marketing you might struggle.

People: Generally decent. It took about 18 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: decent. Tons of options if you like Mediterranean.

Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Meadowbrook for about 6 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

it's not perfect but it works for me. When I first moved here from Portland, I was surprised by community vibe. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Friendly community, easy to meet people
- Nice parks and green spaces
- The food scene scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Limited public transit options
- Winters are long and cold

Overall I'd rate it 9/10 for remote workers. It's not for everyone but it works for us..

Bought a house here in 2017 and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Property values have gone up significantly since then.
