Not sure if this has been asked before, but We have two kids and Poverty rate is 6.0%, which is pretty low. Rent is about $1,481/month for a decent place. The suburbs are where most families end up. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. What would you do? The suburbs are where most families end up. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The city has invested a lot in new development. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 13 years and I'm still on the fence after all this time. The thing nobody mentions is job market. It's reasonable and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the public transit is legit. And if you're into mountain biking, this place is hit or miss.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Highland side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Happy to answer more specific questions..

We moved here with our family and it's not perfect but it works for me. Schools in Old Town area are improving. Kids love it here.

Not gonna lie, the first year was rough. But once you find your neighborhood and your people, the quality of life is solid. Your mileage may vary depending on what you're looking for..
