Pros and cons of Rio Rancho after 7 years

Been meaning to ask this. Military spouse here. Rent is about $1,481/month for a decent place. With a population of 107K, Rio Rancho is a mid-size city. Homes are going for about $273,300 on average. The suburbs are where most families end up. The food scene here is surprisingly good. Thanks for reading. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level. Night life is decent if you know the right spots. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 10 years ago from New York and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: It's gotten pricier but still beats the coasts. We're paying /mo for a 2-bed in The Heights. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is wild right now, especially in construction. If you're in government you might struggle.

People: Generally solid. It took about 8 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: solid. Tons of options if you like Korean.

Feel free to reach out with questions..

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem underrated.

I've been here 6 years and I have mixed feelings honestly. The thing nobody mentions is housing market. It's established and it affects daily life more than you'd think.

That said, the weather is legit. And if you're into rock climbing, this place is hit or miss.

Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The North side vs the Springfield side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.

Happy to answer more specific questions..

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want nightlife, then yeah this place is great. But if weather matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

I've been living here for 6 years and I'd say there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The traffic is average compared to other places I've lived. Overall Definitely worth checking out..

I've lived in Sunset for about 7 years now, so I can give you a pretty detailed perspective.

I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. When I first moved here from New York, I was surprised by public transit. It took some adjustment but now I wouldn't trade it.

A few things worth knowing:
- Good healthcare facilities
- Strong job market in several industries
- The pet-friendliness scene is surprisingly good

The downsides:
- Not a lot of cultural diversity
- Limited entertainment options

Overall I'd rate it 6/10 for remote workers. Happy to answer more specific questions..

Used to live on the West side, now on the Springfield side. Completely different vibe. there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in West for 2 years. Moved from Atlanta for family. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is hit or miss. We bought in 2022 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 3-bed in a safe area. The market is competitive but not impossible.

**Employment:**
education is strong here. healthcare is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are competitive for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. The outdoor scene is better than expected - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. West schools are improving. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Urban sprawl is real. Homeless population growing downtown. And cultural scene can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For remote workers, I'd say this is a 6/10. No regrets on my end.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
