Worst things about living in Rio Rancho
Look, I love Rio Rancho, but let's be real about the downsides:
Traffic can be bad during rush hour
Winters are harsh
Not much to complain about honestly
Don't get me wrong, it's still a great place overall. But people should know what they're getting into.

Totally agree with this. I've been here 11 years and my experience is very similar.

Can confirm the safety issue. But it really depends on the neighborhood. Southside and Eastside are perfectly safe.

Traffic is the worst part honestly. But if you live near work it's fine.

Respectfully disagree about the job market. In my experience, it really depends on your lifestyle.

Don't sleep on Highland Park. It's up and coming and still affordable.

Check out the Riverside area. Way more affordable and still close to everything.

The job market has been improving lately. Several retail companies moved in recently.

Good summary. I'd rate it higher personally — maybe 8/10.

I work in government and finding a job wasn't hard. Took about 6 months.

Great post! One thing I'd mention is the west side tends to be more affordable. Makes a big difference.
