Things River Edge needs to improve

I relocated for work and You can expect to pay around $1,811 for rent here. Crime rate is something to consider -River Edge sits at 17.4 per 100K. Average temperature is around 55--F, so the weather is moderate. Median household income is $155,827, which feels pretty solid for the area. Property taxes are high but you get good services. Traffic can be rough during rush hour, no sugarcoating that. It's changing fast -some good, some not so much. The food scene here is surprisingly good.

We moved here with our family and there are trade-offs but the good outweighs the bad. Schools in Oak Park area are decent. Kids love it here.

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 5 years ago from Salt Lake City and here's my honest breakdown:

Housing: If you look outside the main areas you can find deals. We're paying /mo for a 1-bed in Eastside. It's better than expected for what you get.

Jobs: The market is competitive right now, especially in government. If you're in real estate you might struggle.

People: Generally improving. It took about 5 months to build a solid friend group.

Food: pretty good. Tons of options if you like craft beer.

Hope this helps!.

Weather-wise, the summers are underrated and winters are reasonable. You get used to it after the first year.

Public transit is challenging here. You'll probably need a car for most things. I'm still on the fence after all this time.

Depends on what you're looking for honestly. If you want cost of living, then yeah this place is great. But if walkability matters to you, might want to look elsewhere.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.

I've been in Westside for 14 years. Moved from San Diego for my partner's job. Here's my honest, detailed take:

**Housing:**
The market right now is pretty good. We bought in 2018 at k and it's now worth up a bit than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 4-bed in a safe area. Lots of new construction which should help.

**Employment:**
tech is strong here. marketing is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are developing for the area.

**Quality of Life:**
it's exactly what I was looking for. The outdoor scene is decent - we have mountains within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.

**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Westside schools are challenging. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.

**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Can feel isolated. Dating scene is rough. And community vibe can be frustrating.

**Bottom line:**
For couples, I'd say this is a 9/10. Definitely worth checking out.. Feel free to ask specific questions - happy to help.
