Hey folks, With a population of 16,349, River Falls is a small town. The city has invested a lot in new development. There's a growing tech scene which is exciting. Am I overthinking this? Downtown has improved a lot in recent years. It's not perfect, but the community is solid. The parks and outdoor areas are a huge plus. There's a real sense of community in certain neighborhoods. People here are genuinely friendly, not just surface-level.

Gonna give a different perspective here since most replies seem better than expected.
I've been here 2 years and I wouldn't want to live anywhere else right now. The thing nobody mentions is school system. It's developing and it affects daily life more than you'd think.
That said, the healthcare is legit. And if you're into golfing, this place is challenging.
Neighborhood matters A LOT here. The Fairview side vs the Uptown side are basically different cities. Make sure you visit both before deciding.
Would recommend to anyone considering it..

OK so I've been meaning to write this for a while. I moved here 4 years ago from Nashville and here's my honest breakdown:
Housing: The market is competitive but not impossible. We're paying /mo for a 4-bed in Westside. It's average for what you get.
Jobs: The market is established right now, especially in hospitality. If you're in tech you might struggle.
People: Generally underrated. It took about 4 months to build a solid friend group.
Food: challenging. Tons of options if you like Thai.

Alright, I'll give you the full rundown since I see a lot of surface-level answers here.
I've been in Sunset for 2 years. Moved from Charlotte for school. Here's my honest, detailed take:
**Housing:**
The market right now is decent. We bought in 2021 at k and it's now worth up significantly than that. If you're renting, expect /mo for a decent 2-bed in a safe area. If you look outside the main areas you can find deals.
**Employment:**
education is strong here. finance is hit or miss. If you're remote, you'll love the cost of living. Average salaries are wild for the area.
**Quality of Life:**
I have mixed feelings honestly. The outdoor scene is underrated - we have national forests within easy driving distance. Dining has gotten so much better in the past few years.
**Schools (if relevant):**
Varies hugely by district. Sunset schools are tough. If you have kids, this should be your number one factor in choosing a neighborhood.
**The Bad:**
I'd be lying if I said everything is great. Can feel isolated. Homeless population growing downtown. And community vibe can be frustrating.
**Bottom line:**

If you're remote, this place is great for cost of living. it was the best decision I ever made. Internet is excellent in most areas.
